Property：Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with three isomers: ortho, meta, and para. It is usually a colorless, flammable liquid. Ortho-xylene has a melting point of −25.2℃, a boiling point of 144.2℃, and a density of 0.879 g/mL; meta-xylene has a melting point of −47.9℃, a boiling point of 139.1℃, and a density of 0.868 g/mL; para-xylene has a melting point of 13.2℃, a boiling point of 138.3℃, and a density of 0.868 g/mL. All are insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, and benzene. In addition, meta-xylene and para-xylene are readily soluble in chloroform; ortho-xylene is soluble in petroleum ether and carbon tetrachloride.

Usage：Xylene is widely used as a solvent in industries such as coatings, resins, dyes, and inks, and as a synthetic monomer in industries such as pharmaceuticals, explosives, and pesticides. It is an important raw material in organic chemicals. It can also be added to gasoline to improve its anti-knock properties.
