White crystalline powder. Highly soluble in water, the aqueous solution is weakly Alkaline, insoluble in alcohol. It readily deliquesces and loses its crystallization water in air. When heated to 180°C, it completely loses all crystallization water and converts into an anhydrous form. The anhydrous compound has strong hygroscopic properties.
Tech grade: Used as water softener, fabrics weighting agent, fire retardant and dyeing detergent, raw material for production of sodium pyrophosphate and other phosphates.
Food grade: In the food industry, it is used to make baking powder. It is used as quality improver, emulsifier, nutritional enhancer, fermentation aid and binder.
